o Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary team.
o Diagnoses and manages movement dysfunction and enhances physical and functional abilities.
o Restores, maintains, and promotes not only optimal physical function but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health.
o Prevents the onset, symptoms, and progressions of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
o Recommends use of assistive devices and provides gait training, as deemed necessary.
o Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
o Documents patient care services via EMR charting using ‘defensible documentation’ in a timely and concise manner, in compliance with industry standards.
o Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
o Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
o Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; participates in professional societies.
o Develops rehab and hospital staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
o Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
o Strives to promote health, creates a safe and effective treatment environment, motivates others, has a good bedside manner, listens, analyzes information, and is quality focused.
o Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain a level of clinical practice consistent with best practice standards.
